Religion and violence

How should we understand the complex relationship between religion and violence, and can religions find a way out of conflicts and contribute to peace or to the avoidance of violence? The series ‘religion and security’ edited by Fred van Iersel reflects on the philosophical significance of war and peace, with a specific emphasis on the political-moral, cultural and religious context of the guidance of people in spiritual care. This theme will be supplemented in the near future with input from publications and research.
